Out and About in Martinez: Ghost Walking, Full Moon Walking, Beaver Fest and Peddler's Fair

What's happening in Martinez: Don't miss out on any of these exciting activities.

Summer is here and I have been "out and about", I'm home for a few days and then off again, so we'll cover the next two weeks activities.

If you haven't gone on the "Ghost Walk", make your reservation now, they sell out fast and space is limited. The walks are the 4th and 5th Fridays of each month. The tours begin at the Main Street Martinez Office, 649 Main Street, Suite 106, 8:00 to 9:30 pm. Wear comfortable shoes. Call: 925.228.3577

Every Friday night through August 31 downtown has "Friday's on the Main", live music and a fantastic car show. Tonight, July 27, it's the great Brave Ulysses. The event is free.

From July 30 through August 3 and again from August 6 through August 10 is the "John Muir Mountain Day Camp" presented by the John Muir Association and the National Park Service. The camps are for ages 8 to 12 years and you can sign up for one or both camps. The camp is from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. For registration information call: 925.228.1210.

On Wednesday, August is the "Mount Wanda Full Moon Walk" beginning at 7:30 pm. Call: 925.228.8860 for details.

On Friday, August 3 the featured music group for Fridays on the Main is Mere Image.

There is no shortage of activities on Saturday, August 4. The "Peddlers Faire" in Downtown Martinez is from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. A couple of blocks away at the corner of Marina Vista and Alhambra Avenue is the "Beaver Festival". Both events are free to the public. At the library,you can shop for fantastic bargains at the Friends of the Library "Big Bag of Books Sale". You can fill a grocery bag for $8.00 or two bags for $15. Members are admitted at 10:00 am and the sale will open to the general public at 11:00 am through 5:00 pm. Over at the bocce courts the "2nd Annual Les Schwab Bocce Extravaganza" will begin at 9:00 am. To complete the days activities is a "Camp Fire Program" beginning at 7:00 pm at the John Muir National Historic Site on Alhambra Avenue. Call: 925.228.8860.
