Meet the A's and Double Your Donations

Oakland A’s Pitchers Ryan Cook and Sean Doolittle will encourage fans to make food donations for autographs for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

On Thursday, December 13th Oakland A’s Pitchers Ryan Cook and Sean Doolittle will team up with Feeding America and Bank of America encouraging fans to make food donations for autographs for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

From 5:00pm – 6:00 pm at the Bank of America Walnut Creek banking center, 1330 North Main Street fans and the general public who donate non-perishable food items can meet the athletes. The first 150 people who make a minimum donation of five non-perishable food items will receive autographs from Cook, who appeared in the 2012 All-Star Game as a rookie, and Doolittle, one of baseball’s feel-good stories who rose from Single-A to the majors as a converted first baseman in the matter of two months last season.

The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano is an affiliate of Feeding America, the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity that helps provide food to over 37 million Americans each year.  In 2012, Bank of America’s Give A Meal 2-for-1 match resulted in an extra $15,800 for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano which funded over 30,000 additional meals.

Feeding America’s "Give a Meal" program gives individuals a chance to support a great cause during the holidays by helping provide food to the more than 50 million Americans who struggle with hunger.

For every $1 donated to Feeding America or local food banks via www.bankofamerica.com/give orfeedingamerica.org/BankofAmerica, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation will contribute an additional $2, up to a total match of $1.5 million.  This is in addition to a $1 million contribution to Feeding America.  This support is part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to address critical economic and social issues in the communities it serves.
