mARTinez Gallery Exhibit: "Oceans, Lakes & Rivers"

You are invited to the opening reception for the Martinez Gallery's new show "Oceans, Rivers & Lakes", Friday, September 13 from 6 to 9pm. Enjoy refreshments while viewing themed artworks in media such as photography, acrylics, wood, jewelry and ceramics with prices starting at $2.

Help us welcome the following 3 new members, Molly Weinstein, Sally Ann Rodriguez and Dave Paterson in their inaugural exhibit:

Molly Weinstein wowed Gallery members during the jury process with her mesmerizing infrared photographs. A mist-like etherial glow emanates from a grove of mysterious trees at Pyramid Lake in one of Molly's photographs featured in the show. Infrared photography captures unseen light waves emitted by living things (trees, leaves, human skin), creating luminous effects that cannot be mimicked by tools such as Photoshop. Her photographs are a must-see.

Sally Ann Rodriguez, a native Martinez resident lives and works just blocks away from where she was born. If you've dined at Lemongrass or shopped at Noodles for Kids on Main Street, you've likely seen one of Sally's signature large scale paintings. She describes her acrylic on canvas painting featured in the show as "just a sweet and whimsical glimpse of sittin' on the dock of the bay with a few ol' pals and havin' a good ol' time!" Her paintings can also be seen at Dr. Mona Mokarram Family Dentistry at 735 Alhambra Blvd. in Martinez where she will have an opening reception Thursday, October 17, 2013.

Dave Paterson is a master woodturner whose beautiful inlaid bowls, boxes and vases are a welcome addition to the Gallery. Using mostly reclaimed native wood these heirloom-quality pieces are lovingly buffed and polished to an earthy shine tempting the viewer to run one's hand over the smooth surface.

The exhibit runs through November 1, 2013. Visit our new blog at www.martinezgalleryblog.wordpress.com where upcoming events are listed such as our Grand Re-Opening and Sunday Brunch, Sunday, September 29 from 10am to 2pm.
