TALUNA

“Progressive World Folk”

On tour from Turin, Italy

Gaia Mobilij - Calabrian lyre/ accordian/ vocals
Marco Ghezzo - violin
Luca Russo - guitar
Peppino Leone - percussion/ Italian frame drums/ vocals

A mental, spatial and musical voyage - between gypsy and sephardic sounds, Balcans syncopated rhythms and tarantella.

Taluna’s show is a revised traditional repertoire of traditional Italian music arranged in a Balkan key. But the real energy comes to their songs written personally, in a mix of styles and  genres.

A common thread runs from Dubrovnik to Vukovar, passing through Belgrade, touching lightly Tirana and  Athens. A thread flowing underwater touching Brindisi and passing through Mediterranean, skimming the Andalusia coast.  This is Taluna. The band was formed by four musicians with different roots and backgrounds, taking their first steps in 2008 in Turin (Italy); an immigrant’s city that’s become a melting pot  of Central Europe and North Africa cultures.
