What Would You Like To See Here?

If you could choose any kind of use to go here, what would it be?

I like to call this particular block of Castro Street West Berlin. It kind of looks like that German city shortly after WWII. The former site of the is being reinforced to meet earthquake standards. Meanwhile, it's looked better.

If you could see anything go here, what would that be?

One of our Patch users strolled by the building earlier this week and inquired of one of the workers what was planned for the site.

"A strip club," she was told with a straight face.

We think the worker was joking. We checked with City Hall, and no applications have been made for this property as yet. But in this town, you never know.

Anyway, tell us in the comments what you think should go here.

Someone really needs to open a pawn shop next to some of these bail bonds.

Whether it's here or on Main Street, I'd like to see a good Indian Food restaurant go in. My favorite place in the shiny new redeveloped Pleasant Hill Downtown area (Monsoon Masala) just closed down April 30. :-( Martinez needs a good Indian Restaurant...and lots of ethnic food gems downtown.

A Comedy club would be Awesome! Not only would we "locals" showw, but it would also bring in some visitors to downtown.

How about a Trader Joes type of Grocery Store - good food, good produce and meat - Family owned!!
Anne Mobley May 05, 2012 at 06:01 PM
Unfortunately, the demographics in our area precludes a Trader Joe's. But someone could open up a Trader Something or other and be like a mini TJ's which would be good. Any takers???? It could do well if you could keep the beggers, the bobby's, the jolly danny's, and the ilk away from the place. That is a reason why our wonderful bakery,Le Gateau Elegant, is leaving downtown for Walnut Creek.

I agree w anne. Any of those types of things would be cool. Thats the direction martinez should go in. Thats the type of brainstorming that should be happening.
