Tenacious Trespassing Turkeys

Patch user Lynda Kilday captures an image of wild turkeys violating private property on Lafayette St.

The turkeys return just in time for the start of the "turkeys should be nervous" season, and Patch user Lynda Kilday caught some of them near Lafayette St. Park walking around on private property, behind a fence clearly marked "no trespassing." The scofflaw turkeys continued on their way, oblivious to the laws of man.

Would that be Highland Park (known to us kids growing up as "Shell Park")? Looks like the truck gate to the Shell property.

Yup Patrick, that's the one! This little turkey trot went from the park, down Highland, over to Ward, up to Lafayette, across your (previously Mrs Davi's) neighbors lawn, and on down to the dead end..they seemed to enjoy the parade they started. Fun times.

Right on , Turkeys ! Only in Martinez , would they be considered " trespassing".. a great visual and comment on " mankind and their " laws"...

Since we're talking turkeys: more and more turkeys are coming to Martinez and the Bay Area--enough to be a nuisance, sometimes aggressive and even dangerous. When people feed them they start to think they own the place, and then the trouble begins. So please don't feed them. Lest you think I'm some kind of alarmist, here's what the California Department of Fish and Game says about it: http://www.dfg.ca.gov/keepmewild/docs/turkeybrochure.pdf
