Tamara Gerlach Is On The Air Today

The local author is interviewed on the Internet about her book "Cultivating Radiance." Also, the farmers market is abundant, and Creek Monkey opens officially today.

Today is Monday, July 11, 2011. It was a gorgeous weekend, and I hope you had a chance to get out in it. I managed a hike through the Franklin Hills, where the vistas (and the steep trails to the ridgeline) never fail to take my breath away.

Afterwards, I wound up in the , and am pleased to note that the market is going to expand later this month down an additional block. Always glad to see that eggplant, lettuce, tomatoes and strawberries are coming in with a vengeance. Blueberries too, for the moment. The abundance of our local farms is truly amazing, and the fact that we can buy this abundance from the farmers themselves, several times a week, is an embarrassment of riches. It’s such a great place to meet folks, hear some music, and take in the ambience of our Main Street. If you haven’t visited the Sunday market yet, make a point to do it before November comes along and takes it away. It really is worth the trip downtown. While you’re there, take a look at all the other places that are waiting to be discovered. If you haven’t been downtown in a while, you may be surprised at the variety of stores and restaurants.

on Escobar Street will open its doors for lunch beginning today, after serving dinners this past Friday and Saturday to sold-out seatings. Dinners will be served in the near future. Owner Jim Blair has given this city an exciting new establishment with an amazing variety of micro-brews and locally-sourced food. Look to Martinez Patch for a story later this week.
