Sports Complexes On Track

Two waterfront warehouses are moving forward to becoming indoor youth sports facilities.

Two concrete buildings near Shoreline Park and the Amtrak Station are vacant now, but are slated to house indoor sports complexes next year, including volleyball, basketball, softball, soccer and more. The two buildings will be operated by separate businesses, each leased from the city for $1 a year.

According to a story in the Martinez News Gazette, the city plans to add both buildings into its Parks Master Plan, so that city funds can be used for the facilities, if need be.

And according to a story in the Contra Costa Times, the Planning Commission will consider adding indoor sports complexes to permitted uses in light industrial areas.
