felt smaller then the first one. but maybe because the first one I was on the second floor of an office building. This one was a jolt then roll back... not enuf time to react, just ride it out...

I was in Oakland and felt the earlier one. It was a huge JOLT. This one this evening was also a jolt, but of shorter duration. Still, disconcerning enough for me to want to sleep fully clothed in the living room!

I live in Clayton and I first heard a boom and then my condo shook briefly and then harder. This one seemed bigger than the first and lasted longer to me.

I live in Pinole and felt both. The first was a quick jolt and the second was more rolling and lasted about 5 seconds. They were of about equal strength.

We both felt it. I was downstairs, she upstairs, and she said it was a big one. Not really. Possible these are precursors, so people should have water and can food always. Also know where to go in your house should it really start shaking. Also make sure you know how to turn off your gas main, and read up on how to prepare for the big one. Flashlights and so on. Shoes by your bed always is a great idea, with glass all over you will be grateful for shoes.

I felt the first one at school, and I heard it too. Several students in my room but none seemed to notice it until I said something. Then it was kind of fun and scary. It felt longer then the later one. Time to check emergency plans.

I have to say, Jim Caroompas stayed calm throughout the ordeal. I think it was me who jumped up and said "WE'RE GOING TO DIE!!!!!"

How about a map with MARTINEZ on it????????

@Gary, this is a USGS map showing the epicenter of the quake. It was the quake map that was available.

Joseph and I were at our business (Natural Healings) on Court Street both times. Our landlords are putting on a new foundation to the house and is currently on jacks and wood planks. The first one we thought were the construction workers. The second one, they had all gone home! We were a bit worried about the house and how it was shaking!
