A soaked East Bay won't see much let up in the rain the next two days.
The National Weather Service forecasts more rain on Friday afternoon and Friday evening along with gusty winds.
On Saturday, the NWS says they'll be more rain with heavy downpours in the evening.
On Sunday, yet more rain during the day before skies turn partly cloudy in the evening.
Those partly cloudy skies will remain with us until Thursday.
From noon Thursday to noon Friday, the Concord area had received 1.56 inches of rain in the previous 24-hour period. Orinda had been pounded with 2.55 inches.
Early this morning, PG&E reported 15,000 Bay Area customers without power. Among those affected were people in Orinda and Lafayette.
As of 10 a.m., the number had dwindled to 4,600 in the Bay Area with 480 of those in the East Bay. At noon, the number had decreased to 3,700 in the Bay Area with 300 in the East Bay.
A number of events have been affected by the rain.
The annual Children's Light Parade scheduled for Friday evening in Martinez has been cancelled. The city's 5:30 p.m. tree lighting is also in jeopardy.
Two Concord high schools have North Coast section championship games scheduled this weekend. Those will both likely be played in the rain.
