Martinez Patch Pet of the Week: Meet Jenny The Bunny

This adorable female rabbit is ready for adoption at Contra Costa Animal Services.

Jenny is an adorable female rabbit, who has been neutered. She is mostly tan with some white markings and has a cute white cotton tail. She is a very sweet and gentle companion. Jenny likes to be petted and will sit in your lap so you can pet her silky soft fur. She is a devoted friend who will enjoy spending quality time with someone special.

Jenny may seem a little shy at first, but give her some time to get to know you and her charming personality will blossom. Even after a short time with Jenny, she began to groom her adorable face, and make some cute dance steps. Rabbits love to dance, but they will only show this creative side of themselves to people they trust. Jenny is considered an indoor pet and would want a place in your home where she can see you and interact with you. She has already been litter boxed trained and is a tidy rabbit.

Rabbits develop very strong bonds with people and even other animals, so it’s important to them to spend time with you. They are most active in the morning and the evening, which are perfect times to let them out of their quarters to play. When rabbits are happy, they may make a purring noise by quietly grind their teeth. Jenny is a very calm rabbit who would be a wonderful companion for an older child or adult. (A683009)

Contra Costa Animal Services offers a variety of information resources about caring for indoor rabbits. In their “Rabbit Care Information” guide they explain that “It is essential for rabbits to chew and gnaw as their teeth grow throughout their lives. They love to chew on simple things such as cardboard, paper, hay, and apple branches.”

Visit Contra Costa Animal Services this week to meet Jenny, and other animals ready for adoption. Or stop by for more information about caring for an indoor rabbit.

Contra Costa Animal Services is located at 4800 Imhoff Place and is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00am – 5:00pm, and Wednesday from 10:00am – 7:00pm. You can reach them at 925-335-8300.

I have found it's very hard to find a parking spot there. Another negative is the number of theRead More "constant outsdoorsmen" types lurking all around. I've been confronted several times and worried about leaving my car there.

The Fire Crew worked very late into the night and into the next morning. The Police were alsoRead More working nearby, picking up some of the dead baby animals that were hit on the road, displaced by the fire.

Hi Robert, Thanks for dropping in and checking out the blog. The new Patch look is so 'new' as I amRead More still learning to navigate through. Just updated it and added the link to my film review. Thanks again. Cheers!

I am happy to know that Mr. Behan's review of "STID" is now available. Might we knowRead More where it is available? Perhaps I am just an Apple lovin' technopeasant, but despite my frantic serial clicking on text without links, I could not find the actual story. Alas and alack I may never know why there is no darkness in "...Into Darkness" (or Lightness). Oh, and welcome back Jim!

Do City Council members still get free parking passes as perk?

The main reason I don't go to any of the businesses downtown is the lack of parking. What littleRead More there is is taken up by the owners of these establishments. God forbid they park somewhere else less convenient so actual paying customers can frequent their businesses.

Jim, then that's yet another penalty for showing up for jury duty. The system needs a big overhaul.Read More
