Patch Poll: How Do You Grill - Gas Or Charcoal?

The great outdoor cooking debate - is gas or charcoal your preference?

The weather is turning right for cooking outside. And that brings to mind the eternal question: gas or charcoal?

For those who use charcoal, the issue seems to be flavor. Pro charcoal users insist that meat just tastes better when it's cooked over a charcoal flame, with perhaps some wood chips added for extra flavor.

But the downside of charcoal is the mess. So much ash to dispose of all the time. So many bags of coal to haul around. It can get old.

Pro gas grillers are all about convenience. Just flip a switch and the flame goes on, you can control the amount of heat, and when the cooking is over, just turn the grill off. No muss, no fuss.

So what do you think? Now that the weather is condusive to outdoor cooking, will you be using a gas or charcoal grill? Take the poll, and tell us your grilling secrets in the comments.

If you use gas, why not just use the oven? I use charcoal in a bbq, but my favorite is using just wood itself over an open fire.

I guess I'm not a tried and true barbecuer at heart? I barbecue on my gas grill for two primary reasons; 1.) It won't heat the house up on a hot day, when I'm trying to keep it cool, and 2.) It's a huge time saver when cooking dinner, to simply flip the knob and push the button! My pop uses a Weber and admittedly, it tastes much better, but I'm only aiming to cook quickly, eat, then got on with all the other "honey-do's," so I can finally relax and watch tv! LOL!

We have a Grill Dome, so it is like a Green Egg. I guess we do not use actual charcoal but it is a charcoaled wood. Still used to use gas, forget it. I hate the way the food comes out.

We use wood pellets in our Traeger grill/smoker. Mean and clean, and we use it all-year long. Pitty the rest of you. LOL
