Mt. Wanda Full Moon Walk Tomorrow

Join a National Parks ranger on this popular series of moonlight hikes.

This Friday night, the John Muir National Historic site sponsors another of its popular full moon walks on Mt. Wanda. Join the rangers for a two-hour hike on the site named after one of John Muir's daughter, Annie Wanda Muir, and said to be one of the naturalist's favorite local walks.

"Visitors may see the big beautiful moon rise over Mt. Diablo, and may spot the nocturnal native grey fox," according to a park district release. "This guided walk provides visitors a unique nighttime activity in nature."

Walkers should wear comfortable shoes, bring water and, if possible, binoculars. The hike is quite steep in some places.
