Marketing Martinez - Entries So Far

Here are some entries in our Marketing Martinez contest. There is plenty of time to send yours in.

What is the best way to market our city? How can we best portray the beauty that is Martinez to the outside world in a way that makes people want to beat a path to our door?

The City Council is struggling with this issue and Martinez Patch thought it would be a perfect topic in which to engage our community. A number of you have answered, some with your tongue in your cheek, others quite sincerely. We are going to accept ideas (logos, slogans, whatever marketing material you care to enter) through the end of March. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to a local restaurant. Send your entries to jim.caroompas@patch.com. Good luck and happy branding!

From Roxanne Cole (of Roxx's on Main):

This type of branding would allow us to tie-in all events in our town. Also when we are not having an event we could highlight the family-oriented lifestyle, charm, culture and history of our town.

Branding could be  “Celebrate Home,” with billboards along the highways.

John Found Paradise….So Can You.

Martinez …Family First

Martinez,  “Celebrate Home”

Joe Found Paradise….So Can You.

Martinez….Restored Wetlands

Martinez….”Celebrate Home”

John Found Paradise….So Can You.

Martinez….Main Street USA

Martinez…”Celebrate Home”

Joe Found Paradise….So Can You.

Martinez….Schools of Distinction

Martinez…. “Celebrate Home”

Martinez….Magic & Music

Martinez….Shopping & Dining

Martinez….Theatre & Arts

Martinez….Sports & Classic Car Nights

Martinez….Farmers Markets & Peddlers Faire

Martinez….Santa & Snow Parks

Martinez….Wine Strolls & Brew Fests

Martinez….Parades & Parks

The costs, once the billboards are set in place, would be minimal because only one line would need to be changed on the billboard.

Robert Perry weighed in with a perennial favorite:

"Sausalito by the Refinery."

Hope Savage suggested:

"The Jewel in the Crown."

Janice Vinco:

Do some fund raising to pay for some commercials to air on KTVU (or some other local affiliate station).  Something catchy like "Martinez is Marvelous!" and sing the praises of what we have to offer here....

Gayle Goldblatt:

"Home of John Muir, and more. . ."

Thanks to everyone who has submitted an idea. What are your ideas? Let us know.

Good marketing connects with the life experience of the prospect. It seems that Martinez might be very capable of creating a '50s theme for the downtown. It would have dignity and preserve the fondness Martisians have for art and music. As for a slogan, I like a spin on journalist Lisa Vorderbrueggen's quote: Always Martinez! Vorderbrueggen's original quote is "why is it always Martinez," referring to our own blood sport of politics.

I feel like Martinez' most special quality is it's strength in community. How about,
"Martinez... This is Home."
