Maggie Is a Sweet and Charming Puppy

She has a beautiful smile!

Maggie is a lovely female, 9-month old Pit Bull mix. She has some American Bull Dog in her, which adds to her charm. Maggie is a very lovable girl, who likes to play and smile. She is very feminine, from her lovely eyes, to her dainty walk, and her sweet, gentle nature. Maggie has received high scores for very good behavior. She likes other dogs and loves people. She has many endearing qualities that will tug at your heart, and would develop meaningful connections with all the members of her family. Maggie will probably get a little bigger. She would love to curl up with you on the couch and watch a movie or nap while you are reading a book. She will need a yard with a high fence, because she is also athletic, and an excellent jumper. Maggie is a very special dog who is sweet, loving, and gentle, plus she has a great attitude that allows her to be sociable with people and dogs. Maggie is lovely in every sense of the word and would be a wonderful companion. She will need to be spayed. (A6935532)

You can meet Maggie on Sunday, June 17th, Father’s Day, at the King of the County Barbeque Challenge (in Martinez Waterfront Park). The Contra Costa County Animal Shelter will be celebrating Father’s Day with “Pups for Pops”. Maggie and other dogs will be available for adoption at the event from 11:00am to 4:00pm (although they may leave early if the weather gets too hot).

For those of you interested in adopting a cat, consider a senior cat! During the month of June, senior cats (7 years and older) can be adopted for free.

The shelter has many adorable kittens ready to adopt as well.

Visit Contra Costa Animal Services this week to meet the dogs, cats, kittens, and rabbits available for adoption.

Contra Costa Animal Services is located at 4800 Imhoff Place and is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00am – 5:00pm, and Wednesday from 10:00am – 7:00pm. You can reach them at 925-335-8300.

I have found it's very hard to find a parking spot there. Another negative is the number of theRead More "constant outsdoorsmen" types lurking all around. I've been confronted several times and worried about leaving my car there.

I am happy to know that Mr. Behan's review of "STID" is now available. Might we knowRead More where it is available? Perhaps I am just an Apple lovin' technopeasant, but despite my frantic serial clicking on text without links, I could not find the actual story. Alas and alack I may never know why there is no darkness in "...Into Darkness" (or Lightness). Oh, and welcome back Jim!

The main reason I don't go to any of the businesses downtown is the lack of parking. What littleRead More there is is taken up by the owners of these establishments. God forbid they park somewhere else less convenient so actual paying customers can frequent their businesses.

Jim, then that's yet another penalty for showing up for jury duty. The system needs a big overhaul.Read More

The city is no longer paying for juror parking. In other words, juror or not, if your meter hasRead More expired, you pay.
