Getting Ready for the Regatta

The Martinez Sea Scouts, aka SSS Albatross, are busy preparing for Saturday's Regatta.

Heaving line, compass and relative bearing, knots, ring buoy, rope climb, scuttlebutt, marlin spike and dinghy race. These are just some of the competitions that will take place Saturday at the Martinez waterfront, as the SSS Albatross hosts Sea Scouts from around the state in the 31st annual Seafarers Regatta, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event will feature events that demonstrate the scout's mastery of water safety, boating skills and knowledge of maritime heritage.

Sea Scouting is a co-educational program offered to young adults (male and female) ages 14 to 21. Its goal is to promote better citizenship and to improve members' boating skills and knowledge through instruction and practice in water safety, boating skills, outdoor, social and service experiences, and knowledge of our maritime heritage. For more information, visit the Albatross Website.
