Five Things You Need to Know About Martinez - Friday

How did the Holiday Open House fare? What's the likelihood of getting away with a DUI?

Five Things You Need To Know runs Monday-Friday on Martinez Patch. Post your tips for future listings in the Comments section, or email them directly to me at jim.caroompas@patch.com

  1. From most accounts last night, the was a rousing success. Merchants as diverse as Old Town Clock Repair to Alley Cats Antiques to Main St. Santa were raving about the crowds. And so was Roxanne Cole, owner of Roxx's, the newest restaurant on Main St., which had a preview last night. The much-anticipated eatery is opening the doors in mid-January.
  2. If you want to help a family in need,   is happening on Main St. today from 11:00am to 5:00pm. You can help a family in need celebrate Christmas with clothes and gifts.
  3. The Martinez Police Department would like to advise everyone that drinking and driving do not mix. If you plan to celebrate with some holiday spirits, make sure and designate a driver who is not. Officers will be out in force tonight and through the New Year looking for intoxicated drivers.
  4. If you've decided that it's too much trouble to cook a Christmas Eve dinner, and you want to dine out instead, check out the story from yesterday for a list of Martinez restuarants open and serving lunch and dinner. You'll be pleased with the answer.
  5. Finally, may all of us here at Martinez Patch wish you the happiest of holidays. We hope your day is the best one  yet, and that you get everything you want this year.
