30 Nights with the Martinez / Pacheco Homeless Outreach - In The Creeks

Follow the Pacheco/Martinez homeless outreach.

Day 9

8:15 p.m.:  Tonight was another slow night so I took the time to walk the creeks in Martinez, Concord and Pacheco. I went to a lot of camps and gave out socks, food and any other supplies that were needed. I always get discouraged when I walk the creeks; those are the people who don't want anyone around so I always have my guard up. It's dark and if things go wrong you're out there on your own. It's not like help is coming anytime soon, so I really try to have eyes in the back of my head. I'm not saying everyone is dangerous but you never know.

It was chilly tonight so I had to keep going back to the car for blankets. But I have to tell you it was really cool  to be able to walk the creeks; I used to do it every night and now I don't get the time to do it any more. I saw 26 people tonight; unfortunately none wanted services, just supplies, but I still try.

I want to thank everyone who has supported the outreach — it has had an impact on homelessness and I will continue to do what I can for the less fortunate citizens of our community.
