CB and Jenny's window into Martinez music

Over the past few months the opportunities around town to show your stuff have been steadily increasing.

of course hosts several jams and open mics catering to the more seasoned performers - with bi weekly Blues Jams, a Bluegrass and Jazz Jams and Scotty's Open Mic. These events are well attended by the area's best musicians and as such are actually shows in themselves, and a great way to experience some of the best the area has to offer. Check their schedule and stop in for a bit.

What about those of you who are not ready to take the stage at Armando's but play a bit and want to get out and show your stuff? Well there are several opportunities for you around town.  Wanna have some fun in a relaxed easygoing way?

Check out Steve Star’s “World Famous” Open Mic, a Martinez constant for years at various venues in residency the last couple years every Friday and Sunday at on Ferry Street. Steve keeps things running all night with his seemingly never ending catalog of material - and welcomes others to sing along, play along or  just get up on there own and take over for a few tunes. Steve has also now added a Saturday version over at CJ’s Saloon - not quite Martinez but close enough.

Looking for something a little earlier in the evening?  The is hosting an open mic on Wednesday’s starting at 6 pm, so pop on by sample some of their fine beers, grab a bite and head upstairs and check it out. Schedule sometimes varies so call ahead.

Finally one of our personal favorites is the Thursday open mic over at . Host Michael kicks things off about 6 pm at this truly family friendly session. Pop in and enjoy some of Roxx’s lite bites and wines  with the whole family -  the music’s always great and often seen at Roxx are Martinez faves the Hopeful Romantics, the Two of Us,  members of Garageland Rodeo, Caroompas Room and others. This Saturday Roxx will also be featuring the Music of Melody Guy, so if you missed her special appearance a couple weeks ago here’s another chance.

As always if you know of other live music of note here in Martinez let us know so we can include it in the wrap up!
