Tickets For Game 2 of the World Series Are Over The Fence - How High is Too High?

With the Giants' 8-3 win over the Detroit Tigers Wednesday, World Series ticket prices have gone even higher. What would you pay to see tonight's game?

For Giants fans, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Detroit Tigers in Game 1 of the World Series. Unless, that is, you're in the market for tickets to Game 2. The first win has increased tickets prices for tonight's game to stratospheric proportions.

While prices on StubHub.com for Game 2 started at around $300 Wednesday, the lowest price by the end of Game 1 had risen to nearly $460 for standing room only tickets.

Those Game 2 tickets ranged to an astounding $19,000 Wednesday night, with around 2,400 tickets still available.

Tack on hefty parking prices of more than $40 per car and Giants fans heading to Game 2 are in for a pricey night.

Joellen Ferrer, spokeswoman for Stubhub, told the San Francisco Business Times that pricing “is still pretty on par with what we saw in 2010” when the Giants won the World Series over the Texas Rangers.

But overall Stubhub search traffic for Giants World Series tickets is up about 20 percent over search levels during the 2010 World Series, she said.

Craigslist was equally abuzz over Game 2 tickets, with one Marin County resident charging $1,800 for a pair of tickets and another seeking $6,000 for four tickets.

Those numbers had some thinking of a non-monetary strategy to get themselves into Game 2.

"I'd walk over to McCovey Cove, strip down to my skivvies and jump in if someone put two tickets in my hand right now," Ed Manalong, 50, of Daly City told the San Francisco Chronicle. "The prices people are charging are crazy, and with the economy this bad you have to be a little creative."

I am happy to know that Mr. Behan's review of "STID" is now available. Might we knowRead More where it is available? Perhaps I am just an Apple lovin' technopeasant, but despite my frantic serial clicking on text without links, I could not find the actual story. Alas and alack I may never know why there is no darkness in "...Into Darkness" (or Lightness). Oh, and welcome back Jim!
