Tesoro Corp. Refinery Can Restart

State officials said Tesoro Corp. can restart a unit that was shut down after a chemical spill that injured two employees, according to the Associated Press.

The news organization reported that Cal-OSHA officials said on Friday that they had reviewed worker safety measures and training to prevent a repeat of the Feb. 12 incident at the Golden Eagle Refinery in Martinez.

Around 2:40 a.m. on Feb. 12, two workers at the Martinez refinery were splashed with sulfuric acid. They were airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center to be treated for what U.S. Chemical Safety Board Chairman Rafael Moure-Eraso described as first and second-degree chemical burns and released later that day.
