Sprouts & Shutters: Downtown Eateries

These restaurants have opened recently. Have you tried them?

Written by Beatrice Karnes

We all have our favorite restaurants and we need to support them to keep them in business. But it’s also nice to try new establishments. There are two restaurants—a BBQ joint and a bakery—that have opened downtown recently.

Smokehouse 10 is an award-winning BBQ team that’s traveled around the country scooping up honors at BBQ competitions. The grillmasters have been catering events in the area for some time—now they’ve opened a restaurant so you can get their ribs, briskit, pork and chicken any time your mouth waters for smoked meats.

Saucie’s Bakery & Café has opened on Main Street enticing passersby with the aroma of freshly baked cinnamon rolls (with cream cheese icing!), sweet or savory scones, chocolate pecan cookies and a variety of muffins. And that’s just a partial list of the baked items.

Need something more substantial? How about quiche or a ham and cheese croissant.

Check out Saucie’s Facebook page for drool-worthy photos or to watch for specials.

Saucie's is located at 712 Main St.  It’s open Monday-Friday, 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.
