No More Martinez Taco Bell

The popular chain has closed its Martinez store.

Like the seasons, like the stars, like the elusive tinglings of a first love, the Taco Bell on Muir Station Road was there, and now it's gone.

Though it's not clear when it closed, there is no doubt that the popular fast food eatery, which was especially a draw for high schoolers with not much money and great hunger, is no more in Martinez.

A call to Taco Bell headquarters on Tuesday resultd in a promise from a public relations person to find out more information and let me know. But so far, silence from the company that uses Doritos as taco shells.

No word on whether the recent opening of Chipotle on Arnold Dr. had any effect on sales at Taco Bell. And it is rumored that the chain will open a new store in Martinez, but again, that has not been confirmed by the company.

So, tell us--do you have fond memories of this Taco Bell? Are you sorry to see it go?

Their brand new drive-thru will be opening early next year on Arnold Drive near The d Blockbuster building. The project owned by Dr James Francis has already been through Design Review.

Lori, this was an after school hangout for many kids. Thus, fond memories.

Would be nice to see that old Taco bell become a fast food Italian spot. Anyone want to be partners?? What kids wouldn't like pizza by the slice! (Blondie's) like and some meatball hoggies!! or just a GREAT bowl of Pasta! Think about it!! Who doesn't like Italian food? The most restuants in America are Italian. FACT

Larry, I've deleted your first post because it's not ok to post in all caps. That is considered shouting online. You are more than welcome to repost it without all caps. Thanks.

The project is owned by Dr. Stephen Francis, and yes, the information is correct that a drive-thru Taco Bell will open there.

It IS a pretty cool building for a little lunch place of some kind..good idea! And moving closer to where I work? I think I can deal with that! But I hope they dont tear down the building, or the drive in, etc. Huge developers are building cracker jack boxes. I am not impressed.

I love Mexican! I have Mexican at home and eat out at least once a week and usually more. That's why I never ate at that or any other Taco Bell. And people who eat a Chipotle probably also wouldn't eat at Taco Bell.
