New Dollar Tree, Starbucks, Verizon Stores To Open This Month

Arnold Drive shopping center is the first retail development to open in Martinez in over ten years.

, several new shops will open this month in an Arnold Drive complex between Walmart and Home Depot.

Though originally slated for a Staples office supply store, the largest building in the development will house a Dollar Tree. Other tenants include a Verizon phone store and a drive-through Starbucks.

According to a story in the Contra Costa Times, a major restaurant is also slated to go into the complex, though the devleoper refused to say which restaurant was going in until the deal is completed.

It is the first major retail development in Martinez in over ten years, and the first stores are scheduled to open in mid-August.

I was hoping for an office supply store. Hope they do well. But isn't it about a half mile to the next Starbucks? Never too many Starbucks I guess.

And don't forget the other dollar store in the same complex as the Starbucks...I guess the thinking is that after buying a Starbucks coffee all you have left to spend is a dollar, if that. On another note, I heard the unnamed national chain restaurant is Chipotle.

Used to be towns were plaves a days travel by horse from each other. Now it is Star bucks no more than 5 minutes from each other. It is all about survival I guess. We are overwhlemed by the food choices downtown already. Used to be a 4 month rotaion eating out, now 6 to 9 months. Wish we could eat out more. Does mean jobs though and also more choices, so it;s all good. Just need an office supply store.

but we DON'T have a DRIVE-THU Starbucks.....Keeping my fingers crossed that it is a Chipotle, which I think is the best fast food EVER.....

What killed the Staples deal?

Well at least it's Chipotle instead of another Burger King or Mc Donalds.
