New Chamber Exec Stresses Amtrak Link

John Stevens is the new chief executive officer of the Martinez Chamber of Commerce.

The new chief executive officer of the Martinez Chamber of Commerce wants to do a better job of marketing Martinez as an Amtrak destination.

It's a "means of transportation for tourism to our city and the events we do here," John Stevens told the Contra Costa Times.

Stevens comes to Martinez from Berkeley, where he was executive director of Rebuilding Together East Bay-North, a nonprofit that refurbishes housing. He hopes to expand two chamber events, King of the County BBQ and Martinis on Main, accordant to the Times.

Main problem with Martinez Amtrak is parking. Is anything happening with adding a lot across the tracks from the station with a pedestrian bridge over the tracks?
