Did You Shop On Saturday Before Christmas? Why?

Stores are packed on what some experts say may be the busiest shopping day of 2012. Did you go out?

Some experts are predicting that this Saturday, Dec. 22, will be the busiest shopping day of 2012.

That's right. Busier than Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. Busier than Christmas Eve, too.

If downtown Walnut Creek was any indication on Saturday afternoon, they might just be right.

There was no parking at 1 p.m. Saturday in any of the parking garages downtown. Not one. There was no on-street parking available on Broadway or Main Street in the downtown vicinity either.

The closest space was two blocks up Newell Avenue from the far corners of the Broadway parking structure.

The crosswalk at Mt. Diablo Boulevard and Main Street was packed. Every change of the light brought a stream of pedestrians.
