Dickey's BBQ Officially Opens Its Doors On Thursday

The Pleasant Hill BBQ restaurant features brisket, ribs and southern fare.

An enthusiastic crowd gathered at lunchtime for the “soft” opening of Pleasant Hill’s newest eatery, Dickey’s BBQ at 2634 Pleasant Hill Road, near the border of Martinez. In fact, Martinez city employees and Pleasant Hill council members and other officials were among those tasting, and evidently enjoying, the fare on Wednesday.

But it is on Thursday that the restaurant opens its doors officially, giving away free sandwiches to the first 100 customers, according to co-owner Amy Meadows. The very friendly and affable Meadows was nice enough to take a few minutes from her hectic day to talk about her restaurant with Patch. Dickey’s will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day, she said, including the Fourth of July.

She said the most popular dishes at the restaurant are the brisket, the chicken, and, of course, the ribs. Sweet tea, fried okra and other southern fare are also featured.

Dickey's is located in the site of the former Burger Road. If you go, be sure to tell Amy you saw her on Patch.

When is PH going to open a restaurant that sells healthy food?

There used to be a place called RAW...it was all raw, organic, amazing food....went out of buisness. So not sure people REALLY want that. Everything in moderation is my rule of thumb.

We ate there opening night. Very good food, staff was very nice. It was a good experience. I love BBQ and southern cooking, especially the deep fried okra. Enjoyed it very much. Thanks, Dickey's!!!!

We called in an order, half rack of ribs,2 sandwiches & sides. They told us 15 minutes,I waited 20 & went to pick up the order. I get in there & I am told there is a problem with my order, they are out of ribs & none will be ready until later. I asked why we weren't called back & notified of this, she said she didn't know they were out. Then,I got to wait another 20 minutes for my order(minus ribs). I have been waiting for this place to open & I was really looking forward to trying their ribs. Unpreparedness & poor communication with their staff is not a good first impression. I'm not so eager to go there now,I may at a later date when my disappointment wears off.
