Blood Drive in Honor of Sgt. Brian Carter

Carter succumbed to cancer last summer after receiving numerous platelet transfusions to prolong his life. The memorial blood drive will take place Friday, July 20 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Shell Oil Club House.

Sgt. Brian Carter worked for the Martinez Police Department since 2000. The 37-year old, father of two young sons, was diagnosed two years ago with Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, an aggressive form of cancer involving the cells of the immune system.

During his battle with cancer, Sgt. Carter received numerous platelet transfusions to assist him throughout his stem cell transplant and more recently countless blood and platelet transfusions in order to prolong his life.

Sgt. Carter succumbed to the cancer on June 22, 2011. This brave warrior was given extra time to be with his family and if not for the generous donations of others, Sgt. Carter would not have reached his goal to see his children one last time.

On behalf of the Carter family, please join usduring the 2nd Annual Sgt. Brian Carter Memorial blood drive. Give the gift of life so others may benefit like Sgt Carter.
