World Famous Cellist To Perform At Alhambra High School Nov. 18

Eric Sung has been heard in several major Hollywood films.

A world famous cellist will perform later this month at Alhambra High School and other venues in the area.

Cellist Eric Sung and his 200 year old cello has been heard in the films Pirates of the Caribbean, King Kong, and Inside Man.

On Nov. 18, at the Alhambra High Performing Arts Building, he will join the Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra in a performance of Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme. Tchaikovsky actually composed the Rococo-flavored theme himself, drawing inspiration from his role model, Mozart. The result is a 19th-century Russian take on the late-Baroque musical character.

In addition, as part of the CCCO’s ongoing outreach to the Martinez community, Conductor Timothy Smith will present several workshops for the music students at Alhambra High School and Martinez Junior High School, followed by a concert in Pittsburg on Saturday the 19th and a concert in Walnut Creek on Sunday the 20th.
