Viewfinder: The original Martinez Patch

Martinez mavens piece, quilt and stitch at the Martinez Senior Center with striking results.

Quilting was and always will be a social discipline as evidenced by the ladies who were at Sandy Keller's Tuesday night quilting class. Their easy conversations flowed as brilliantly as their creations. Discourses ranged from psychology to wireless access along with how to hand-tie a quilt "the old fashioned way."

And for those who can't pay a class fee or for materials Keller runs a community class from 1-4PM on Wednesdays. The Senior Center provides the materials and instruction and the resulting quilts are donated to folks in the community.
