Five Things You Need To Know About This Weekend

Small town, eh? You wouldn't know it by the level of activities we've got going this weekend, including music, dining, light shows and other goings-on.

It's been a busy, hectic year. It's almost over. You need some time to chill and unwind. In that spirit, here's a guide to some fun goings-on tonight and this weekend. 

1. Tonight -- Traditional Jazz at : Jack Convery and Friends, a seven piece traditional jazz band, will perform tonight (Dec. 8) at Armando's. For those who love the sounds of Turk Murphy, this is your night. 8 p.m., $10 cover. 

2. Tomorrow -- A Night of Tasting Decadence: n has teamed up with to create a pairing of wine and food you won't find anywhere else. Quail, duck, beef and smoked salmon will be paired with great wines. 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., $25 per person.

3. Tomorrow through Sunday -- : over 50,000 lights, snow making and special effects promises to be a holiday show you and your family won't soon forget. 7:00 p.m., 2364 W. Shell Ave. 

4. Saturday -- Christmas Party Fundraiser for the : a ho ho no-host bar, dinner and live entertainment are the highlights of this annual fundraiser by the Downtown Retailers Focus Group to benefit the Martinez Early Childhood Center. 6 p.m. Veteran’s Memorial Hall, 930 Ward Street, $25 per person.

5. Sunday -- presents "A Christmas Gift to the Community": local choirs, instrumentalists and soloists will perform in this annual event. Suggested $10 donation, $5 for students, goes to the Martinez schools music programs. 3 p.m., 1229 Court St.
