I've Been Framed in Martinez will celebrate in the spirit of St. Valentine's Day with a bold new art exhibit curated by Debra Dodson, local art photographer and exhibit coordinator.  For three weeks, the popular downtown frameshop will transform itself into a unique gallery which will present captivating art and photography that celebrates the human figure.  This juried exhibit aims to showcase the beauty of the human form, as portrayed in various styles of artistic exploration, from the avant-garde to the sublime.

Cathy Riggs, proprietor of I've Been Framed says, "These paintings, sculptures and photographs reveal an eclectic and contemporary look at an endless subject of fascination." For fine art aficionados, this exhibit will also include an original painting for sale by famed artist Jeremy Lipking, whose masterful works are beyond the imagination for skill and realism.  This painting will be showcased on opening day, Wednesday, February 8 and during the downtown Main Street Wine Stroll on Saturday, February 11 from 2:00 to 5:30 pm.  Several local artists, including a few who will be showing for their first time, are excited to be exhibiting their new works.

For art lovers and those who would enjoy the true beauty of the human form in all its simplicity and complexity, this contemporary art show is not to be missed. In putting together this exhibit, I hope to bring awareness and admiration not only for this physical being of our souls but to the creative eyes of those who are continuously inspired by the human body as both an expressive and always captivating subject!

Debra: I was very very impressed when I visited Cathy's shop tonight. The painters are amazing, including Cathy's piece--which I did not know was Cathy's until I gushed over it. Anyway, I have a message for Paul Craig: Craig, it is both the social and legal contract you have with Burning Man that you will not exhibit or profit from photographs of especially nudes at Burning Man. We need to talk or you need to read. Love you man, otherwise (well, except when you drilled holes in the Library walls.) :)

Thank you for your comment Kristin and I'm very happy to hear you enjoyed the exhibit! Funny thing, this exhibit inspired several artists to create just for this show, including Cathy, and I especially love her new piece entitled, "Leave Your Hat On"! I agree -- we've got some amazing artists in this show!

I did not see that one, of Cathy Riggs the one I gushed over was "Three Faces of Eve".
