Unseen Downtown: Beauty in Unexpected Places

Martinez is blooming, and some of the most colorful clusters are showing up alongside the parking lots and county buildings downtown. Have you seen the unseen display?

Bustling around downtown, it's easy not to notice the exhibition in progress of nature's finest works. But stop to smell the flowers, and you might find them in some unexpected — or unnoticed — places.

Have you seen the unseen beauty downtown? Snap a picture and upload it to our Martinez Neighborhood Gallery. Can you identify these flowers? Let us know in the comments.

These look like snapdragons.

The purple flowers may be bouganvillia, but it'/s hard to tell with out being able to see the leaves well.

The purple flowers are lantana, I am pretty sure...they could also be a verbena native to Baja California but Barbara's right...one needs to see the leaves. And she is also right about snapdragons in front of the clock shop. The second pic is either English or Santa Barbara daisies, I think. I don't know all the names and what I do know I often can't remember....And the last pix with the dark center...that's one I know but can't remember :) But all the pictures are lovely.

I noticed yesterday as I was walking home from Amtrak, that all the flowers and trees are really starting to bloom and even in places where you least expect! - there is a huge variety of colors and styles. So Beautiful!!!
