Snow Frosts Mt. Diablo Summit

Yeah. It's cold. Just ask the devil mountain. Low temperature of 34 degrees predicted for Wednesday in the flatlands of the Diablo Valley.

The clouds crowding the broad shoulders of Mount Diablo parted for a brief time Tuesday afternoon and allowed a photograph of acres of white dusting at the summit.

The featured photo was taken from the Camino Verde Trail on Acalanes Ridge on the border of Lafayette and Walnut Creek.

Down in the flatlands, Wednesday's forecast calls for a high of 59 and a low of 34 degrees. A couple of times a winter you might get snow at the summit, which leads you to look up the Wikipedia entry for Mount Diablo and confirm that the summit is 3,864 feet.

Nice pics! I took a few myself late yesterday afternoon from a slightly different spot. Good contrasting light.

Rode my bike up yesterday and got into some serious snow fun. Rode all the way around the mountain via Prospectors Gap and Meridian trails.
