Flu Outbreak Limits New Community Living Patients

VA Community Living Center in Martinez is not accepting new patients.

Because of an influenza outbreak, the Veterans Affairs Community Living Center is not accepting any new patients, VA officials said Friday.

The CLC is a 120-bed facility at 150 Muir Road offering a range of geriatric and extended care to veterans for stays of two weeks up to several months.

"It's under control," said Robin Jackson, public affairs officer for the Department of Veterans Affairs, North California Health Care System. "We're managing our staff as well as the patients."

Care programs at the CLC include clinical neurological services, subacute care, respite care, palliative care, and restorative and rehabilitative care.
