Arbor Day Celebration at Susana Street Park

The city's Recreation Department is hosting a two-day celebration of trees and nature.

The annual Arbor Day celebration leaps into full swing this Wednesday and Thursday, March 9 and 10, as children from throughout the city gather at to plant trees and learn about the wonders of nature.

The event, sponored by the city's Recreation Department, will host children from throughout the city, including St. Catherine's preschool and elementary, Martinez Unified School District's Growing Garden and Special Needs preschool, Creekside Montesori, and Head Start.

Activities include creation of a living bean necklace, planting flowers to take home, and learning about the history of Susana Street Park, and of Arbor Day itself.

The programs begin at 10 a.m., and the public is invited to attend.
