Ambassador ot the Year — Kerri McClain

Kerri McClain is the lead Ambassador for the Chamber of Commerce.

Less than three years ago, Kerri McClain became the community relations director for California Pacific Federal Credit Union in Martinez. Very soon after that she became active with the Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors Committee, which welcomes new members, keeps in contact with members and represents the chamber in the community. This year, the named Kerri McClain Ambassador of the Year.

She has early memories of Martinez from when her father worked for Amtrak. “We were always stopping in Martinez during the layover for the train that goes up to Oregon,” McClain remembered.  “It was a two-hour layover in the middle of the night from like 10 p.m. to midnight, and my dad would walk us through the streets of downtown Martinez…we would look through all the windows of the antique shops.” Now, McClain passes by those shops on a regular basis, and even knows many of the shop owners through her work with the Chamber of Commerce.

“As an Ambassador, we are really committed to the development of business within the Martinez community,” McClain said. Most recently, she represented the chamber at the celebration. “We understand the importance of the chamber and the role we all play in making Martinez the great community that it is,” McClain said.

McClain seems to have fun in her role as an Ambassador. “I’m really big on making sure people are having a good time, so I’m lucky, because I get to emcee a lot of the events.” In fact, she will emcee the Citizens of the Year Awards dinner.  “I have a lot of fun just meeting new people and making sure that everyone gets an opportunity for increased exposure to the membership,” McClain said.
