A Trail of Native Plants

Watch the creation of a native plant trail.

A coalition of groups from throughout Martinez have come together to establish a native plant trail to run from the Amtrak Station to the John Muir Home. The trail will feature only plants that are indigenous to Martinez.

The groups include a teacher, Corrine Christiansen, and students from the Greenleaf Academy, Elaine Jackson and other members of Friends of Alhambra Creek, the National Park Service and others. The project began last year at the Amtrak Station, and this year's planting was at what is informally known as Beaver Park, at the corner of Castro and Escobar streets.

Watch the video to see what was going on Thursday and to hear comments from some of the participants.
