Homelessness in Martinez

I have posted before about the homeless people getting more and more aggressive since the news went out that Loaves and Fishes wants to set up downtown and a site (downtown) for  Senior Housing has now been changed to Section 8.  Well, every time I go downtown it's getting worse!  Last night we were trying to have a nice outdoor dinner with friends.  Here's what happened....

It is sooooo obvious that the word has gone out that Martinez is now "their" town.  There were many very very beat up cars driving up and down Main Street just looking....obviously "checking the place out". The homeless were no longer being secretive but eating out of the garbage cans right across the street from where I was sitting....not taking their "find" and walking away....but sitting at the other restaurant's outdoor tables and munching away right there.  Homeless people were sitting at our restaurant too and one crazy guy tried to pickup a girl that was having her meal.

People were siting by us and shouting to every other homeless person walking by.  "I'll see you back at the Marina!" was a favorite thing to say.   The signs of entitlement were overwhelming!  
Every time someone walked by....the odor was sickening.  In one short hour the number of encounters was ridiculous!  I have never seen anything like it.....even driving through the Tenderloin in The City!

For goodness sake, City Council...what are you going to do about this????  What would the police do if I called?  Sorry miss, there's no law about taking food from the garbage and eating it next to you at a restaurant?  We can't make the people wash?   We can't stop them from forcing you off the sidewalk?  They have to relieve themselves somewhere!

I know the homeless should be helped.......but not downtown!  Stop this now!  Stop Loaves and Fishes from relocating downtown, now!  Change the new building to Senior living,now! Show the homeless this is not their town, now! Stop thinking this will go
