Be a Volunteer Speech & Debate Coach for a Middle or High School!
Impact Through Debate is looking for part-time volunteer coaches to teach speech and debate to local students.
Who are We?
Impact Through Debate is a local and newly formed non-profit organization (we have been operating unofficially though for the last two years). Our mission to provide speech and debate education and competitive opportunities to as many local students as possible. We are currently operating within a few local Contra Costa schools and are starting to partner with more schools and are looking for more volunteers to help us grow.
What would you do?
Help find and recruit students at a specific local school to join a newly formed speech and debate club. Then you would meet once a week after school with these students to help coach, train, and develop their skills in speech and debate. More than likely there will tournaments to attend about 1-2 times a month--some will require overnight travel. We will need your assistance in our fundraising efforts. We anticipate that 4 hrs/week during non tournament weeks and 18 hrs/week during tournament weeks. Lastly, we are hoping to put on a summer program to help prepare students for the new school year.

What if you don’t have experience?
We will train you and provide you with the all the tools necessary to be a successful coach. Additionally, we have a great network of support and will connect you to other coaches for additional support.

What do you get?
First--Inspiration for the future. It is very rewarding and inspiring to watch students get fired up about current issues. You will find that you gain just as much (if not more) than the students you are working with.
Second--Meet new people. You will get to meet some cool people who are just as committed as you to helping our future.
Third-- Travel. Depending on the success of the students and the invitational tournaments we attend--there may be some overnight travel involved. Impact Through Debate plans to cover these costs for the volunteers.
Fourth--Small stipend. We hope to provide our volunteers with a small stipend for their time.
