Looking for something a little “different,” you can do as a family? Consider participating in Family Volunteer Day at the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. It is a great opportunity to see how the Food Bank works while having fun and contributing to your community! Family Volunteer Day showcases the benefits of families working together, introduces them to community service, and encourages those who haven’t yet made a commitment to volunteer as a family. Activities will include educational games, crafts, a tour of the facility, and produce sorting. To participate in the volunteer activity, children must be age five or older and must be accompanied by an adult; there must be one chaperone per child for ages five to ten, and at least one chaperone for every two to three children ages eleven and up.
The Contra Costa branch of the Food Bank will host their Family Volunteer Day on Sunday, May 1st, two shifts will be available. One from 11:30am to 1:30pm, and another from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the Concord warehouse, 4010 Nelson Ave, Concord. If you are interested in participating or would like more information, please call 925-676-7543 or email at volunteerhelpdesk@foodbankccs.org.
