Sirens In Martinez This Morning Result of False Alarm

There is no emergency and no need to shelter in place.

by Bay City News

A false alarm was sent out this morning by Contra Costa Health Services warning Martinez residents that there was an emergency at the Shell refinery.

There is no emergency, said Randy Sawyer, chief environmental and hazardous materials officer for Contra Costa Health Services.

He said automated calls went out and the emergency sirens were activated in Martinez shortly before 7:30 a.m. The phone message warned residents to shelter in place and close all doors and windows.
